Monica is a graduate of the University of Texas where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Applied Learning and Development concentrating in K-6 General Education and EC-12 Special Education. Following her undergraduate studies, Monica has taught special education in the public education system. Highlighting, Monica has been awarded at a district level honoring excellence in the profession. At a building level, she has increased inclusion LRE percentages by over 40% and developed systematic approaches to promote inclusive practices. At a district level, she has been regularly asked to provide professional development at both building and district level around inclusive practices, sensory processing, disability, and evidence based practices. Monica later earned both her Master of Education in Instructional Design and her Master of Science in Curriculum and Development from Western Governors University. Monica is a sister, advocate and teacher for students with disabilities. She has a passion for promoting inclusive practices and empowering a full team approach for student success.
